Mrs. Sidney Brody's Art goes on sale.

Only in California! This magnificent collection of art which includes Matisse and Renoir (among many others) will go on sale at Christie's on May 4th.

The Residence of Mrs. Sidney Brody (the daughter of Albert Lasker) was designed by famed architect Quincy Jones and decorated by the design Icon Billy Haines.

What a perfectly marvelous "time capsule" of a lifestyle that was the epitome of California elegance. Custom book shelves and furniture by the former movie star turned decorator, Billy Haines who had the who's who of Los Angeles as his clients.

That delightful mural in the garden court is by none other than Matisse.

In The Garden with Joe Ruggiero

What a joy to see what is happening in the garden this morning. A David Austin rose opened and it appears as though the edges of the petals were pinked with a pinking shear. It is extremely fragrant!
Also my succulents are beginning to bloom and give birth. This beautiful specimen on the pool terrace has given birth to a bunch of pups which I am growing in one pot. I know I should separate but want to try a "full house" effect.

Green First Course Looks Delish!

An asparagus soup with a chive custard floating and mixed green salad. What a delightful first course at a New York event. Great summer idea!

Upholstery Details

Attention to details. Our new Conrad chair features a driftwood finish and is upholstered in a new color Fawn for our Sunbrella pattern Trax. The contrast welt is Sunbrella pattern Main street/Latte and does it not look like decorative cording? It is the perfect accent for this new Trax color. All available now at Miles Talbott.

Sunbrella Red Will Not Fade!

What a breakthrough; a deep, rich red that will not fade and easily cleaned. These Sunbrella patterns, Dots Nice/Terra cotta and Sunset Stripe/Terra cotta are part of my new collection. I like the punch of red & white. Incidentally there are 1,200 silver nail heads on my Stanton Screen for Miles Talbott. The pendant light is also covered in Sunbrella Flower Power/Parchment from the JR Collection for Craftmade Lighting.

Sunbrella For Dining Chairs.

What better choice than Sunbrella for a dining room. You spill red wine or marinara sauce on any of these pieces and you can easily clean them up. The photograph shows new products from the April High Point Furniture Market. Pendant lights with Sunbrella pattern Taba/Wren and Table Lamps called Florentine with Sunbrella shades. The drapery from Casa Fiora is also Sunbrella Kenya/Carmel with Chop Block border. The table, from the Joe Ruggiero Collection for Gat Creek is the Lloyd dining table in solid cherry wood.

New this market from Miles Talbott are the Villa dining chairs. The arm chair is covered in Sunbrella Velvet/Cocoa and the armless Villa chair is upholstered in Beth/Spring. This is a tightly woven stripe in a fresh new green...perfect for this season.

Sunbrella Design Question

Looking at the garden and trying to design to re-color this leaf pattern. Which side do you like? The light side or the dark side. Your thoughts.

Welcome Home!

What a joy to see the garden in full bloom when I came home from High Point. I had been away for ten days and to see the roses all in bloom was the perfect greeting.

There are quite a few very old roses mixed with many varieties of impatiens. Looks like we will have a summer full of "pinkalicious" color.

Market in High Point

Last day at market is always bittersweet. You have worked for six months to develop new collections and you see them all come together and enjoy the reactions from buyers and it is exciting. Then it is over; the streets are empty and you begin thinking of new ideas and new products and before you know it--time to start again.

What a thrill to have Julie Bova from Indianapolis visit the showroom on our last day. She is an extremely energetic and talented designer. These are the friends and colleagues that make my visits to High Point Market the high-light of my career. Thank you all for your wonderful comments.

Our Report From High Point Furniture Market.

As we see the final day at the Market, it was one of our best! The blue & white Sunbrella room at Miles Talbott certainly was the favorite of many of the buyers. It was a market of new business and new friends. What a joy to work with such professional partners. Thank you all!

Ruggiero Tenth Anniversary Celebration

Our Ten Year celebration happened this week in High Point. Miles Talbott hosted a wonderful party for friends and customers and what fun to see so many of the people I have known during this incredible ride! The lovely B.Smith stopped by to say hello as well as Greg Rosendale from Sunbrella and many others. My wife Barbara and business partner looked as lovely as she did 42 years ago when we were first married. It is a dream.

Joe Ruggiero New Introductions!

Our new Conrad chair (foreground) with a driftwood finish sets the scene for the Tribeca Slope arm sofa. Both are covered in a new color for Sunbrella Trax called Fawn. Looks like a "cafe latte" and piped in Trax/Vellum. The cocktail table is our Lloyd for Gat Creek in a rich distressed Oak. The art? From my collection for W.King Ambler. Lot's of excitement at the Miles Talbott showroom in High Point as we introduce many new products.

Great Restaurant In Greensboro, North Carolina

Those of you who are heading to the Furniture Market in High Point you have got to try Ristorante L'Italiano. I make this my "home away from home." The food is healthy, delicious Italian food in a simple immaculate setting! The host and chef is Rosario Mascali ( I call him Ray and tell him I sent you). I like the veal medallions in marsala cream sauce with portobello mushrooms. The lobster ravioli is superb as is the various pasta dishes. Reservations are suggested 336-841-8058. 4040 Premier Drive, High Point, NC. 27265.

The pizza break knots are addictive.
