Always fun to entertain in the garden and this weekend provided the perfect weather for visitors from back east. My nephew Rob and his friend Jillian drove down the California coast and stayed the night. Bringing color to the table of flowers growing in the garden. The shades of pink were the perfect accent for the blues of the Sunbrella fabric.

I certainly admire the style of New York designer Vicente Wolf. I first met Vicente almost thirty years ago when I was producing my book "Found Objects." I then had the pleasure of interviewing him for my television series "The Best of American Design." I have always delighted in his zest for design and the energy that he conveys when talking about a particular design project or his travels. His style is timeless and carefully thought out. Thanks Vicente for your mark on American Design.
My Daughter Beth served this menu for Easter but it is the perfect cook out menu for this weekend. Lamb on the grill with a simple herb rub. Caramelized Roasted Fennel. Herb Popovers, Roasted Rosemary Potatoes and a savory Ratatouille. It is a great combination. We love carbs but you may want to add some sauteed Spinach.
As I have mentioned many times, I have a green garden. That means many colors of green. Accents of white always work best with green shrubbery. I have thought of bringing color into the garden and as the summer progresses I do have plans for punches of color but the white always works with many of the subtle colors I have growing in spots of the garden. I will share when they mature.

Seems to be lots and lots of black & white along Rodeo Drive. From Ralph Lauren,Armani, Chanel, Tom Ford and Dolce & Cabana. Those of us who are waiting for color will have to give it time, I am afraid. Especially here in California, the land of color.
The Dahlia certainly brings beautiful color to the garden and to our home. These beautiful giants make for hardy additions to the cutting garden.
Always fun to have lunch at one of Beverly Hills landmarks, The Beverly Wilshire Regent. The floral display is always stunning and the food at the Blvd. restaurant is wonderful. Note the menu cover.
