Casual/Outdoor Furniture Market

Next week the International Casual Furniture market will open in Chicago (Sept. 21-24). I am happy to present my new outdoor collection called Salona for Woodard Furniture. Shown here covered in Sunbrella Trax/Nutmeg. This collection was designed to create a sleek, contemporary look that can go in many different areas. I will also be showcasing my Outdoor lighting collection for Craftmade. Outdoor decorating is the new frontier of design and I am excited to promote the opportunities for creative outdoor design and The International Casual Furnishings Association. For those of you on your way to Chicago, I look forward to meeting you in person.

Chanel Inspires Sunbrella Fabric.

The legendary fashion designer CoCo Chanel was famous for selecting "nubby" wool fabrics for her distinctive suits with intricate braid trim. I have been inspired by her textiles and have designed a fabric for Sunbrella called Cote (coast in French.) There are several colors available now at Miles Talbott. The fabrics upholster beautifully and will not fade and are easily cleaned. In the photo below I show two colors on my Wilshire and Barrymore Chairs. Another amazing innovation from Sunbrella. Incidentally we also have Sunbrella braid trims to choose from.

The Green Garden

Nothing is more delightful than the "Green Garden." This European style garden with little or no flowers creates a series of green structural plantings to give a garden a monotone elegance of green plant material. The French even use dark green trellis to create gardens of structure for all seasons.

Here in the garden are my collections for Woodard Outdoor Furniture. Domino the all weather wicker covered in Sunbrella Trax/Persimmon and Harwick inspired by Chinese Chippendale design.

Sunbrella Presents in Beverly Hills, Ca.

The Peninsula Hotel, Beverly Hills was the site of my Lunch & Learn event to introduce the latest Joe Ruggiero Collections. A gathering of designers, architects and retailers joined me as I introduced products from the Spring Furniture Market. It is a great way to meet and and answer questions.

Sunbrella Pastels for Summer!

Not sure why, but this summer I see a trend towards lighter colors and pastels for outdoor fabrics. I had introduced a collection of Sunbrella fabrics called Riviera for Woodard Outdoor Furniture. This group has some brights but a more subtle coloration. Pictured is my Harwick Outdoor Furniture collection in a crisp, white finish. I like this fresh look for Summer.
