Sunbrella Tie Dye: Spring Preview

A SPRING PREVIEW: New fabric design for the Joe Ruggiero Collection; Tie Dye in the color Linden. The new technology of Sunbrella allows the fabric to look like it has been knotted and tie dyed with ancient methods of textile creation. We are especially pleased with our new color palettes of pastels and brights. Look for this and other patterns this Spring at Miles Talbott Furniture.

Fashion Show of Sunbrella Bags!

A Fashion Show of Sunbrella Bags? Yes, it was an effective way to show the new Joe Ruggiero/Sunbrella fabrics at a Charity Event in Indianapolis, Indiana for the Dyslexia, Institute. The bags were auctioned off and money raised for the Charity. This event drew a large ground at the Dream Home in co-operation with the Luxe Store in Carmel, Indiana.

The young models along with co-host Dawn Johnson helped Joe with the presentation. Looks like an enjoyable event.

Designer Event at Ken Ludwig Showroom

I enjoyed meeting the Designer Clients of Ken Ludwig in his showroom at the Mart in Chicago. Ken (pictured left) has a marvelous selection of my Sunbrella Collection, Miles Talbott upholstery, and wood pieces from Gat Creek. It was a lovely luncheon and a great way to present the collections and meet new design friends. Stop by Ken's showroom 15th floor and pick up a Sunbrella bag. 312-467-0530

Now through new technologies we have developed the looks of silks and satins and beautiful subtle patterns, textures and trims that will not fade and stand the test of guests, children and pets. Look for the Joe Ruggiero Sunbrella Collection at Miles Talbott.

Art of Japan Inspires Sunbrella Fabric

The Japanese are of Origami (paper sclupture) has influenced the designs for the Joe Ruggiero Sunbrella collection being introduced this April at The High Point Furniture Market. The pattern appropriately called Origami in the color Taupe presents a series of symetrical folds much like the paper sculptures of Japan. This will be presented at the Miles Talbott showroom.

"I see a definite influence from the runway fashions in Europe and America. This is evident in my new spring collections for home fashions."

Sunbrella at Minneapolis Art Gallery

A visit to Minneapolis is always an "art" experience, so this time we decided to host our "lunch & learn" at the Burnet Gallery. What a delightful space to display my new collection of Sunbrella Fabrics. Charles Ray of the Charles Ray Showrooms was there to help us record the moment, along with Dona Kondziolka the showroom manager. We were also pleased to have George Jordan, President of Miles Talbott Furniture, Greg Rosendale, Sunbrella and Sandy Weidemeir and Ric Hutterly the sales Representatives for Miles Talbott.

If you notice a bit of green among the designers who attended you are right...it was held on St. Patrick's Day!

Introducing Sunbrella Trax Mink

Our best selling fabric is Sunbrella Trax ,shown on this chair. There is a very deep color line to this pattern. Here I show it in the color Mink with Murano stripe in the color Rosewood, on the pillow. Trax is a subtle herringbone that co-ordinates with any pattern. What we call a great "go-with" design.

This picture was taken in my studio/office.

New Textures From Sunbrella JR!

Busy in the studio this morning. My new Sunbrella textures have arrived. I will introduce these at Spring Furniture Market. The pattern is called Mainstreet in the colors Latte, Corn & Classic. This pattern has the look of a homespun, slubby linen. I myself am amazed at the beautiful hand. Will be giving a "sneak peak" of my fabrics for Spring at luncheons for designers in San Francisco and Santa Barbara next week. Miles Talbott Furniture will be stocking these fabrics for quick delivery. Also recieved my "seascape" photographs I am signing for W.King Ambler. They will also be part of the Spring introductions. The view out my window is really inspirational.

Always lots of activity in the studio this time of year as we get ready to introduce products in Upholstery for Miles Talbott; Case Goods for Gat Creek; Fabrics, Sunbrella, Drapery & Bedding, Casa Fiora; Lighting, Craftmade and Art for W.King Ambler. As well as product for Viro, Phoenix Trims, Woodard and Terra.

Fabric Trends for Fall 2010

Emily Cosgrove and Greg Voorhis of Sunbrella help with the difficult task of selecting from hundreds of fabrics for the Fall 2010 Joe Ruggiero Collection for Sunbrella. We see a trend to neutrals with pops of color and patterns that bridge a wide selection of art deco, textures, unusual stripes and whimsical florals. These fabrics will be introduced to the outdoor and interior markets. Sunbrella technologies help create fabrics with an extremely soft hand that will perform as well as the Sunbrella canvass over our heads. This is all very exciting to me!

Looking for a Durable Fabric Option?

Recently, I was giving a lecture at a local design center, and a woman asked me about durable fabrics for children. It's a question that I always get asked.

Personally, we never sacrificed on style when raising our 3 active children, and I don't believe others should either. When it comes to raising kids in a stylish home, it's all about making the right choices.

Certainly, you are not going to upholster a sofa in a precious silk, but a durable fabric with an elegant look, is the way to go. See video below for inspiration.
